Apple on stack of booksIn November 2002 the Higher Education Council was established bringing together university vice-chancellors and other key players in the higher education sector in recognition of the central role that education, training and research and development has to the future development of the South Australian economy and community

A snapshot of the Higher Education Sector in South Australia:

  • generated revenue of more than $1B
  • managed assets worth more than $2B
  • invested $380M in assets over the past 5 years
  • employed more than 12,000 people
  • graduated 16,000 students
  • has enrolled and educated 66,000 students
  • has international students contributing $128M directly to the universities’ revenue with a futher $80M contributing to the State’s economy through their living expenses
  • will invest $620M in assets over the next 5 years
  • will win or generate $250M to support research
